Lapping or Binding Cane
:
Also called wrapping. Used to bind over joints in cane furniture and
basket handles. Requires soaking in water to make more pliable.
There are two types :
a) Machined from the centre of the cane and is easy to stain.
b) Cut from the outer skin and is much stronger.
Lapping cane is best quality (Approx. 5-6mm wide and 1mm thick).
