Lapping or Binding Cane
:
Also called wrapping. Used to bind over joints in cane furniture and
basket handles. Requires soaking in water to make more pliable.
There are two types :
a) Machined from the centre of the cane and is easy to stain (centre cane).
b) Cut from the outer skin and is much stronger (half gloss, rattan peel).
Lapping cane is best quality (Approx. 5-6mm wide and 1mm thick).
